Founded in 2002, East End Main Street is a diverse group of volunteers dedicated to the promotion and preservation of Charleston's oldest and most diverse neighborhood. We work directly with neighborhood businesses, leading them from simple ideas to significant investments.
Charleston's East End is home to the West Virginia State Capitol, the Appalachian Power Park, the Clay Center for the Arts & Sciences, as well as a growing number of businesses and families.
A program of the Charleston Area Alliance, a private, non-profit organization, East End Main Street believes that thriving businesses make vibrant neighborhoods.
East End Main Street is one of 1,800 active National Main Street Programs and 15 West Virginia Main Street Programs that started through an iniative of the National Trust for Historic Preservation more than 25 years ago. By using the 4 point approach of focusing volunteer efforts on Design, Organization, Promotions and Economic Development theories of revitalization we are restoring prosperity and vitality to our residential and commercial business district.
